Slight Deterioration of the Digital Signage Business Climate in North America

According to the Digital Signage Expo’s Quarterly Barometer for Q2 2009, the Digital Signage Business climate in North America has slightly deteriorated. The total percentage of respondents who were “positive” about the future of the digital signage/digital out-of-home industry was 94 percent (down from 97 percent in Q1). The six-month future outlook for Q2, regarding the economy in general, showed the same trend with 8 percent of North American respondents expecting a worsening of business conditions, up from 4 percent in Q1.
It has to be noted that the North-American DS Business Climate remains brighter than its European counterpart, which has recently been measured by the OVAB Europe Index. In response to the question “How do companies see their current economic situation with respect to Digital Signage products and services ? ” – 39 percent responded with “good”, 44 percent with “satisfactory” and 17 percent with “poor”. Concerning expectations for development over the next six months, 78 percent of the respondents expected to see an improvement, 20 percent no change at all and 2 percent anticipated a “poor” development.
