China: Focus Media Q2 Digital Signage Operations Exceed Expectations
Focus Media has announced its unaudited financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009. Net revenue for discontinued operations (i.e. Focus Media’ digital signage advertising networks to be sold to SINA) was $89.2 million (+39% v Q109, -15% v Q208), surpassing the Company’s previous guidance of $81.5 million.
Advertising revenues:
-from the LCD display network was $53.7 million for the second quarter of 2009, a 56% increase from $34.4 million for the first quarter of 2009, but a 12% decline from $61.0 million for the second quarter of 2008,
- from the in-elevator poster frame network was $26.5 million for the second quarter of 2009, a 13% increase from $23.5 million for the first quarter of 2009, but a 29% decline from $37.3 million for the second quarter of 2008,
- from the in-store network was $9.0 million for the second quarter of 2009, a 43% decline from $6.3 million for the first quarter of 2009 and a 45% increase from $6.2 million for the second quarter of 2008.
As of June 30, 2009, Focus had a total installed base of 217,000+ digital signage formats (133,514 Commercial Network’s LCD screens, 38,893 in-elevator digital frames and in-store network 44,783 digital displays).
Focus Media’s Q309 net revenues from discontinued operations are expected to be between $80 million and $81.5 million.
