USA: CBS and Center City Direct Launch Digital News-stands Network in Philadelphia
CBS stations in the Philadelphia market (CBS 3, The CW Philly 57, KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, 94 WYSP, SportsRadio 610 WIP and The Big Talker 1210AM WPHT) have joined forces with Center City Direct, a division of Alternative Media Holdings, and launched Philadelphia’s First Digital News-stands yesterday.
The CBS Always On news-stand Network features a 24-hours news ticker and a flat-screen High Definition Television set to broadcast news, weather and sports updates, along with tourist information about Philadelphia.
Center City Direct manages the technology, the content and the advertising, while CBS Local is the exclusive news provider for the service. Eyewitness News will supply the TV news updates throughout the day. The CBS Radio local stations will provide content for the marquee.
The system is also wired to broadcast alerts in case of a city emergency, including Amber alerts, coordinated through the City’s Office of Emergency Management.
Thirty-nine news-stands have been equipped. Plans are in place to eventually expand to 120 digital news-stands city-wide.
