USA: RMG Networks and the New York Times Launch New Network

1 March 2010 11 h 57 min2 Comments

NYTimestodayRMG Networks (ex Danoo) is launching a new digital signage network with the New York Times called simply NYTimes.com Today.

Running on RMG’s existing 850 screens installed in 800 cafés in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston and San Francisco, the network broadcasts a mixture of informational content taken from the newspaper’s internet site in various formats – text, photo and video.

The offer also has a mobile element – anyone wanting more details on a particular subject is invited to visit the accompanying mobile site of the new network via an on-screen message.

The network, which is expected to grow greatly in the next few weeks, already reaches more than 6 million people each month.

The agreement brings two advantages for RMG – on the one hand to reach the NYT’s national advertisers, and on the other, to have a news-based programme which is the most relevant for the kind of cafés where the network is deployed.

For the New York Times, the partnership brings a marketing bonus. It allows it to present its brand and content on a new media operating in an environment where the printed version is already on sale (the majority of cafés carrying RMG screens already offer the NYT in its printed version).
