VmaxMTaxide Wimax operator, Vmax Telecom, has fitted a digital signage network in 1,000 taxis run by MTaxi in Taipei (Taiwan).

The system, provided by Tecom Inc., uses 7inch touch-screens operated by a stylus installed in the back of the front seats. The screens are connected by WiMax and give access to Service and Entertainment internet content. The system also integrates a GPS functionality, which allows to display geo-localised advertising and services.

The offer, known as “Mobile Internet Cafe”, is designed to promote the use of WiMax in the country – Taiwan being on of the countries where deployment of this broadband wi-fi communication technology is the most advanced.
