Jean-Charles Decaux (JCDecaux) : “Outdoor Media Have an Important Role to Play Thanks to the Advent of Digital”
Jean-Charles Decaux, Chairman of the Executive Board and Co-CEO of JCDecaux was the guest of the latest Buzz Media/Le Figaro (click here to watch [fr]).
He reiterated the main points communicated by the group in recent weeks – that even if 2009 had been the most difficult for JCDecaux since its creation, the group has emerged stronger than before, thanks to its aggressive strategy in the developing countries and its external growth activities in Europe. The group is now N° 1 in the UK (through the purchase of certain assets of Titan UK) and N°2 in Germany (through a majority stake in Wall)
The group envisages other acquisitions as a result of opportunities which could arise “in the coming weeks and months”. Its activities in North America could well be strengthened soon at a reasonable price.
Concerning the future of the media, Jean-Charles Decaux observed the relevance and strength of outdoor communications, which is consolidating, whereas in-home media have a tendency to fragment. And he concluded: “Outdoor media can really play an important role in the coming years, thanks to their dynamism and the advent of digital”.
