Google To Enter Connected TV Market
Google is apparently working with Intel and Sony on a new generation of televisions and set-top boxes which use the Android OS system.
The project, revealed by the New York Times, allows access to a series of existing internet services (YouTube, Picasa, Gmail, Twitter, etc.) via the big screen.
The partners also intend to open up the development of applications specifically designed for these new terminals (similar to the applications for smartphones). Google will make a development kit available to third party programmers in the coming months, reports the NYT.
If confirmed, this initiative could have a big impact on digital signage.
