According to the latest survey by Arbitron, digital signage is beginning to get through to the American population: 70% of 12 year-olds and older, i.e. 181 million people, saw a digital screen in the previous month, and over half (52% or 135 million people) saw one in the previous week.
Further, 47% of those having seen a screen remembered a specific ad and of these, 19% made a previously unplanned purchase as a direct result of this ad.
The research was based on 1,700 interviews and surveyed 18 types of public venues (Grocery store, Large retail or department store, Movie theater, Health Club, Stadium or arena, Drug store, Public transportations, Shopping Mall, Gas Station, Fast food or casual dining restaurant, Medical office, Hospital, Airport, Elevator, Office building lobby, Convenience store, Coffehouse or sandwich shop, Bar).
