USA: PRI Digital Signage Index Sees ‘Consistently Positive Growth’

14 June 2010 21 h 17 min

PRIlogoPRI’s North American Digital Signage Index increased from 115.53 in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 120.63 in the first quarter of 2010, a 4.41 percent increase. Of the nine Index components, screens deployed in the industry and ad spending on DOOH networks registered the greatest gains, while screens deployed in network and firm sales revenue declined the most.

This 4.41 percent industry growth during the first quarter can be described as consistently positive. The score of 120.63 (over 100) indicates a positive outlook, but at a slow rate of growth.

The Near-Term Digital Signage Index (three- to six-month outlook) registered an 11.80 percent increase in sentiment. This is down from the revised 16.07 percent increase in the Near-Term DS Index last quarter.

"We believe that this is consistent with an industry that, like the economy in general, is moderately improving," said Steven Keith Platt, PRI Director and Research Fellow. "As corporate marketing spending continues to improve, so will the industry."
