France: JCDecaux’s Mobile App ‘USnap’ Available October 13th – International Launch Planned

This morning, JCDecaux presented USnap, an image recognition iPhone app developed in partnership with French start-up Telequid. As we wrote last week, the service enables advertisers to extend their poster campaign by delivering an extra layer of information to mobile phones.
For passers-by wanting to interact with a poster, the principle is simple: once the app has been downloaded (available from October 13th from the App Store) it just has to be launched to be able to photograph the poster. The service recognizes the ad and triggers access to content created specifically by the advertiser (film trailers, information about a new product or exhibition, coupons, directions to the nearest store etc…).
The user is kept up to date about current interactive campaigns on USnap’s dedicated website.
Versions for other mobile platforms such as Android and Windows Mobile are in development. An international launch for the service is also being planned.
