Top10 Today Ooh-tv presents its TOP 10 DOOH Network Operators of 2010.

Here are those that have made the biggest impact on their respective markets:

1. RMG  Networks (USA)

The San Francisco-based company has continued its multi-sector development at a strident pace. In 2010, the company invested in the health sector, with the acquisition of Pharmacy TV and the signing of partnerships with Everwell and the Pharmacy Health Network (Cardinal Health). It has also re-vitalised its presence in cafés, by linking up with the New York Times and extended its in-flight network via a partnership with Delta Airlines. It has moved into taxis, universities, and most recently, casinos through a major deal with Harrah’s Entertainment.

RMG currently markets nearly 200,000 screens.

2. JCDecaux (WW)

2010 has seen an acceleration of the French group’s digital strategy. The main events during the year were:

- the purchase of Titan UK’s digital networks, which were then extended

- deployments/extensions in the transport sector – from Milan (Airports and Underground), to Dubai, via London, etc.

- the launch of USnap in France, a mobile app to interact with posters

- winning several tender bids, which will result in new digital installations in Paris, Singapore, Melbourne, Santiago etc.

The group’s digital park is currently estimated at over 6,300 screens.

3. Amscreen (UK)

Without doubt the most active European ‘pure-player’ in 2010. Launched mid-2008, the company soon became the UK leader in petrol station forecourts and is also present in the health sector. It is currently deploying in convenience stores and plans to have installed 1,000 screens by June 2011. At present, Amscreen controls a park of over 3,000 screens.

4. Elemidia (Brazil)

Like RMG Networks, Elemidia has continued its multi-sector development during 2010. The operator has completed the integration of the Cine Boteco network in bars & restaurants, bought at the end of 2009, and finished the year with major deal in the retail sector with the Pao de Açucar chain.

However, the biggest event of 2010 was its acquisition by the Abril media group.

Elemidia operates over 6,000 screens in office buildings, shopping centres, fitness centres, hotels, bars, restaurants and convenience stores.

5. ChinaMedia Express (China)

The company began the year by raising $40M from Starr International. It then proceeded to sign a multitude of deals with bus and airport shuttle operators across the country to end the year with a total park of installations in over 26,400 vehicles.

6. Deutsche Telekom (Germany)

During the course of the year, the telecommunications giant confirmed that it intends to play a dominant role in the DOOH sector in Germany.

The company, which had announced a target of 10,000 installed screens by the end of 2010, continued to develop its networks in airports and shopping centres throughout the country, and also entered the supermarket sector.

7. Ströer (Germany)

The traditional Out of Home company announced and started deployment of its Out-of-Home Channel network – with over 1,000 screens in Germany’s railway stations. This will complement its Infoscreen network, which has over 260 screens on railway & underground station platforms throughout the land.

8. Metrobus (France)

During the year, the ad-sales agency installed 400 digital screens in the Metro – Paris’ Underground system. This deployment gave a great boost to the DOOH market in France. The next move for Metrobus will be the deployment of a network of 800/1,000 screens in railway stations across France.

9. Retail Media (France)

The Paris-based company confirmed its position as the country’s market leader in the super & hyper-market sector. With its ad-sales agency, AdFrance, Retail Media markets 3,000 screens at check-out points in the Auchan, Monoprix, Leclerc, Carrefour Market and Intermarché chains.

10. Monopoly Media (Romania & France)

With nearly 4,000 screens in action and a clearly defined cross-media strategy, Monopoly Media is the flagship DOOH operator in East Europe. Building on its expertise, the Romanian company opened up an affiliate in France mid-2009, and proceeded to deploy a digital signage network in bakeries in Paris (Cigale TV). Monopoly Media plans to be operating over 5,000 screens in France by 2012.
