France: Alcatel-Lucent Deploys Digital Signage in the New Carriages of Paris Metro
Alcatel-Lucent and the Groupe RATP have just deployed a raft of broadband services in the new (driverless) carriages on Line 1 of the Paris Metro, which are designed to improve comfort and safety for passengers.
Digital signage is just one of these services. 24 screens have been installed per train (see photo), showing at present travel information (in future they might also feature “on-board TV programs and advertising”, according to the press release).
The first carriage was inaugurated at the beginning of the month, and 15 others will follow by the end of the year. A total of 49 automatic trains will be running on Line 1 in 2012.
Line 1 is the busiest in the network, transporting an average of 725,000 passengers per day.
