Come ! A novel by Serge Marignan

In the 1970s, Julien and Michèle are two teenagers who live a passionate love story. Their romance will last for several years, until the vagaries of life separate them. Forty years later, despite the time that has passed, Julien tries to win back the one he has never ceased to love!

When the young Michele, who is turning fifteen, arrives in the village of Julien, seventeen, it is immediately love at first sight between the two teenagers. A very intense love story, bordering on fusion, sets in between the two. But Michèle’s father, who thought it was just a little love affair among teenagers, takes a dim view of this story. Especially since he does not appreciate the inconstancy of Julien who does not seem to know what he wants to do with his future when he had a whole mapped out by continuing his father’s work on the farm. Little by little, the relationship between Michèle and Julien deteriorates, until the argument that will end their story. However, forty years later, when Julien sees Michèle at a concert, he realizes that his love has never been extinguished and he wants to win her back. He then decides to write the novel he had always promised himself to write, that of their story …

It is always with great apprehension that I begin a romance. I am always afraid that she will turn into sentimentality. Fortunately, we are quickly fixed with the story of Serge Marignan: the fact that the story develops over two overlapping eras, it avoids falling into the pitfalls.

We therefore follow in parallel the story of young Julien and his crazy youthful passion, and old Julien who embarks on the writing of his novel which is based on his adolescent diary. It’s super interesting to follow, because at the end of the day, “Come on! »Offers us in a way two intrigues in one: the first of which we already know the end because it will end with a rupture but in which we wonder how this can happen so much these two love each other with a mad love; and the second in which old Julien writes his novel, and tries to find out more about Michele by talking to her on Facebook with a pseudonym. Each of these two eras has its share of surprises and twists. So I waited with great impatience for the conclusion of these two intrigues because both were of great interest to me.

As for the writing, it’s all good because the author managed to immerse us well in each of the eras, so that at one point, it had almost become useless to read the dates. because it made sense. I found it very pleasant. The many references to films and music of the time plunge us with delight in the 1970s. And as regards the years 2017-2018, the presence of social networks which allow Julien to recontact Michèle very quickly permeates us in the modern world. .

The reading is very fluid, and yet the writing very rich. Some scenes of the antics of the two lovers are very explicit, but nothing shocking. As for the end of the story, it will please or not according to the tastes. I really enjoyed reading this novel until its last chapter which I A-DO-RÉ. And I would have liked the story to end there. But the author decided otherwise by offering us a final twist in the epilogue!
