Q’hoa, the millenary tradition that continues every year

The q’hoa is one of the most common rituals in the country, especially at the time of saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming a new year. It has an endless number of elements that are offered to the Pachamama as a thank you, all of them have the objective of attracting well-being, luck and warding off the negative. On these dates, many people do this activity.

The booth in the La Pampa Market of the Raúl Ayma family is a traditional destination for many believers who perform this ritual, since they make all kinds of so-called tables. The Good Night of Opinion Program visited the booth to give details about this custom.

Ayma explained the components that the q’hoa has: “A common table has a client Llama, it has protection against envy, against curses, in addition to Incense against disease and against spells. There is also the Silver Llama”, Don Raúl highlighted, who commented that the booth has a tradition of more than 40 years, since his grandparents.

From 10 bolivianos to 100 bolivianos, depending on the elements that the person who buys the q’hoa wants.

The new generation is also present in the booth. Marilyn Ayma, Don Raúl’s daughter, declared that one of the keys to making q’hoa work is for the person to “believe” at the tables.

“First of all you have to believe … You have to put yourself. You have to accompany the q’hoa. It is the essential thing. The table does not have to be set on fire. If it does light you have problems, and it should be extinguished with beer, wine or singani ”, he maintained.
